Floor Sinks and indirect waste receivers in specialized building construction should be considered by the engineer In these specialized floor drains, all interiors are acid resistant enamel for maximum cleanliness. Floor sinks are recommended for use in food preparation areas of all types. Stainless steel floor sinks should be specified In hospitals because of the high degree of sanitation.

Unlike conventional floor drains, floor sinks are designed with large radius corners to permit much easier and more thorough cleansing of the interior

A flushing connection is available to wash out accumulated wastes and to aid in keeping the interior clean. The flusher tapping is located in the body, to direct the water in a swirling motion and provide a more effective washing action. The flusher also serves as a trap primer.

Floor sinks are available in round, and square design. The square type is recommended when the sink is to be set in tile floors or in room corners. Most body styles are furnished with seepage flanges which serve as concrete anchors and to which water-proofing membranes can be attached by flashing clamp rings.

Floor sinks are available with dome strainers or sediment buckets depending on the installation requirement. Strainers keep debris out of the waste line, and prevent splashing when the sink receives indirect waste.

Sediment buckets, with slots intercept heavy solids; buckets fined with mesh screening catch small particles. All buckets are aluminum unless otherwise specified, as this metal affords lightness, rust prevention and protection of the enameled interior.

Floor sinks usually are supplied with full grates. Optional grates are used where indirect wastes discharge into the sinks. Separate funnels can be attached to grates into which multiple wastes can be discharged without splashing.

Grates usually are furnished in nickel bronze.
