Who Says Ductile Iron Pipe Isn’t Beautiful?
July 20, 2015
We are excited to report that McWane Ductile-New Jersey (MDNJ) pipe has made its way to 3rd Street in the City of Bethlehem. MDNJ donated 15 planters and flowers to Block by Block and the City of Bethlehem to bring back the history of Bethlehem Steel to the area. Block by Block, located in Bethlehem City, is a program designed to increase safety, cleaning and outreach services mainly supported by Lehigh University and the City of Bethlehem.
Each planter is made out of a 20” pipe and was cut and plated with the MDNJ name and logo. The planters are located off the ramp of 378 going onto 3rd street, New Street Bridge and by the steel stacks. We would like to thank the following team members who helped this project come to life: Dale Schmelzle, Jason Trimmer, Fran Tone, Craig Spitzer, Kelly Bray, Glenn Gucwa, Bob Silfies, Evan Bray, Peter Mulligan, and Ray Stull.
If you’re in the area, check out these beautiful planters!
