Kennedy Valve Team Helps Clean up Lackawanna Rail Trail
April 29, 2014
A large team from Kennedy Valve (KV) participated in an Earth Day event sponsored by the Friends of the Chemung River Watershed. The event cleaned up more than 500 pounds of trash and debris from the Lackawanna Rail Trail.
The Trail was built and is owned by the City of Elmira, but the River Friends help clean and maintain the paved trail in a volunteer partnership with the city. The 15-foot-wide trail follows the path of the former Lackawanna Railroad. The northern portion weaves through the city’s Eastside industrial center via railroad overpasses. The southern section follows Newtown Creek and offers scenic views of nature and runs east of the Kennedy Valve facility.
Team KV as also joined by other community members for the clean-up. The weather cooperated with rain before and after the event but the sun shined on the event.
Thanks to the KV participants for a great event!
